Butterfly Festival Car Show Features Unique Prizes
Prizes for the 2nd Annual Mariposa Butterfly Festival Classic Car and Truck show are adding up to one spectacular event. “We wanted to make this a fun event, different than all the others,” said Eric Weihe, head of the car show committee. “Every car show has the same categories: best by year/ generation, best make/ model, cleanest, best work in progress, crowd favorite and overall event winner. But our car show has something different and fun for the participants and guests to enjoy,” added Weihe. Those unique classifications include:
1. Best in Show
2. My baby done left me, but I STILL GOT MY CAR
3. Just one more car payment
4. The Envy of my Married Friends
5. So what! My other car is a KIA
There will be terrific food and many non-car displays. “Imagine, something for everyone,” exclaimed Mike and Linda O’Connor, co-chairs of the car show. “If you have an old car that needs a little help, it’s welcome, even if you think the Destruction Derby is it’s only hope. This isn’t your usual car show, it’s fun. These mountains are full of nifty cars so bring them out and show them off. Tow them if you must.
The prizes for the show winners include, classic car shirts produced by Michael D. Hall, fun trophies and shammies from Coast Do-It-Best Hardware Store. The “Best in Show” will also receive a new state of the art battery powered electric blower from Foster Ace Hardware and the other categories will receive removeable trunk organizers.
The band, Yard Dogs, will be entertaining the car enthusiasts all day. Raffle prizes include a brand new $740 21-gear electric mountain bike. Raffle tickets for the bike are $5. The $1 raffle prizes include a used Epson HD projector, electronic drum set, new remote-control Star Wars toy, robot, cars and more.
There is a $20 entrance fee for those who wish to be in the Classic Car and Truck Show. This includes entrance to the Mariposa Butterfly Festival featuring bands from all over the Central Valley, a skydiver landing on the festival grounds, artisans, exotic bird and animal expo, and Jurassic Mariposa. Applications are online at MariposaButterlfyFestival.net.
To be a spectator and enjoy the festival, tickets are only $3 or two for $5. Children 12 and younger are free.
