Officials of this year’s Mariposa Butterfly Festival Parade, held last Saturday, have announced the winning entries.
The award for the Best Float Theme went to Catheys Valley 4-H. Catheys Valley Baptist Church claimed the Craftsmen Award. In the Best Theme Equestrian category, the Merced Posse walked away with the trophy.
The Peoples’ Pet Parade took top honors in the Best Animal (non-equestrian) competition. In the Best Walking Group category, the Woodland Park Patrol received the award.
The Judge’s Choice award went to 1850 Restaurant and Brewery, and the Best of the Best award was taken by the Sierra Foothill Charter School bus.
In the parade’s vehicle competition, the 1931 Model A Sport Coupe entered by Charles Wildt took first prize. In the Best Classic Car (1940-1959) group, the 1957 Chevy owned by John and Sue took the award. In the Best Classic Car (1960-present) category, the 1967 Pontiac GTO entered by Max Lee received the award.
Keith Sharp’s 1946 Chevy truck claimed the trophy for Best Classic Truck (Pre-1960), and Ben Turck’s Fire Truck was honored as the Best Classic Truck (1960-present).
